Same-Sex Spouse Benefits
In 2013, the Department of Defense (DoD) announced the plan to extend benefits to same-sex spouses of uniformed service members and retirees. In September of that year, benefits such as TRICARE enrollment, spousal and family benefits, and Survivor Benefit Plan were made available to same-sex partners and retroactively to the date of the Supreme Court's decision, June 26, 2013. Any member married after the effective date should provide a valid marriage certificate to CPC in order to effect entitlements.
