Good afternoon, fellow NOAA Corps officers,
Earlier this week the OMAO Leadership Team had the opportunity to partake in a refreshing mindfulness exercise and the overwhelming consensus was that mindfulness is the real deal - and we need more! To answer the call, Mindful NOAA is in full swing and I encourage everyone to take a moment and both visit the site and take some time for yourself. It is quite easy to focus on the task at hand or the email inbox to the determinant of one's body and mind so please, as has been said many times before, take care of yourself. From the Google Site:
Mindfulness is about paying attention to your experience in the present moment with an attitude of openness and curiosity. Research shows mindfulness meditation has physical, emotional, behavioral, and mental benefits. Like any habit, meditating for at least a few minutes on a regular basis is needed to experience benefits. Mindful movement can take many forms, from stretching to walking to riding a bike. Mindfulness meditation and movement are ways to build resilience and unlock the stress cycle.
Remember to have fun and, as always, stay healthy,
CAPT Douglas MacIntyre, NOAA
Director, Commissioned Personnel Center

There are a plethora of different TSP topics covered by the webinars, and the website linked below is updated with new offerings monthly.

The Junior Officer of the Year, Science, and Engineering award periods are for actions observed during the 2021 Calendar Year (01 Jan 2021 through 31 Dec 2021)
As of the announcement on 2/9/2022 all NOAA Corps Officers are required to receive a booster against the virus that causes COVID-19 BY APRIL 16 in order to be considered in compliance with immunization specifications.
If an officer has already uploaded an image of their vaccine card to their eOPF, they are still required to upload it to the NOAA Vaccine Reporting System.
Medical Affairs will be granted access to the NOAA Vaccine Reporting System in order to verify vaccination status.
Please note Medical Affairs is utilizing the Vaccine Reporting System as the primary source for tracking your vaccine status.
Through the NOAA Vaccine Reporting System Medical Affairs will have access to view a physical copy of an officer's vaccine card, and will continue to update Officer compliance via our Human Resources Management System. Please note, however, we will not be downloading copies of vaccine cards into officers' eOPF.
If the officer would like to have a copy of their vaccine card maintained in their permanent medical record, they must submit it to their eOPF.
If you have questions please reach out to noaacorps.medical@noaa.gov.
NOAA Corps Recruiting is looking for motivated Officers (O2-O4) who are willing to complete interviews for BOTC 141. To improve consistency, Recruiting is asking each interviewer to conduct a minimum of 3-5 interviews.
Officers will conduct all interviews virtually via Google Meet. Interviews can be scheduled as early as mid-April, with all interviews completed by June 10th.
This interview process is your chance to have a direct hand in shaping the future of the NOAA Corps. Please email LCDR Pawlishen at chief.noaacorps.recruiting@noaa.gov if you are interested. Thank you for your consideration!
The NOAA Corps Junior Officer Advisory Committee (NJAC) is continuing its webinar series that was started in 2020. Each quarter the NJAC will be hosting a webinar focused on issues directly related to junior officers or other topical subjects. Topics in the past have ranged from awards and promotion processes to aviation applications to NOAA Corps medical standards. If you have any questions about this upcoming webinar or have suggestions for future webinars please direct all comments to NJAC.Execboard@noaa.gov.
Service members, veterans, reservists, and qualified family members are entitled to education benefits through Veteran Affairs. VA education benefits are available to help with paying college tuition, finding the right school or training program, and getting career counseling, among others. Join us for a live webinar by NJAC and a VA Benefits Advisor to learn more about what benefits are available, how to use or transfer them, and much more. Questions are being taken ahead of time to help tailor the presentation to your questions. Please utilize this form to submit your topics and questions, no later than COB Tuesday April 05.
An Aviation Advisory Board (AAB) will convene between May 9 and May 27, 2022 to make recommendations for AOC's next P-3 and G-IV pilot. This AAB will not have minimum Total Flight Time or Aircraft Commander experience requirements, however, these factors will be taken into consideration. Selections will be made for one P-3 and one G-IV pilot, who is expected to transition to the G-550 when the platform comes online. Rank and time in service, while not limited, will also be factors in the selection process.
By COB, May 4, 2022, all interested officers should submit a one-page document to LCDR Joe Carrier at assignmentbranch.cpc@noaa.gov, with the following detailed information:
Please note, for official boards convened by the Director, NOAA Corps, members will have access to Official Personnel Files. Please ensure that your file and assignment preferences are up to date. Inter-service candidates can submit prior personnel records for consideration to LCDR Joe Carrier at assignmentbranch.cpc@noaa.gov.
