Message from the Director

Good afternoon, fellow NOAA Corps officers,

As we approach this Memorial Day holiday I want to thank each and everyone of you for your continued service and sacrifice to the Nation. Our mission is a peacetime mission so please take a moment to pay tribute to the fallen while still celebrating with friends/family/shipmates and enjoying the sunshine. Here are a few ideas:

  • Participate in the National Moment of Remembrance at 3:00pm, Monday, May 30th
  • Visit a military cemetery or memorial
  • Display the U.S. flag at your home
  • Watch the National Memorial Day Concert

I am honored to serve and thankful for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our Nation.

Stay healthy,

Upcoming PCS Information Reminder

As the summer is heating up and life is getting back to normal, it is important to remember that your Permanent Change of Station (PCS) travel request must be submitted 90 days prior to the projected PCS move. This will afford the assigned HR Specialist the time to create the PCS orders and it gives you, the officer, the necessary time to coordinate/schedule your Household Goods (HHGs) packing and pick up with the move management company, Berger Management. Please be aware that many service members relocate during the summer and in early fall months, especially those with school aged dependents or spouses that are educators. During this period, scheduling packing and pick up of your HHGs may be more difficult due to limited resources and availability. The earlier you provide your completed PCS paperwork to the HR Specialists and Berger Management, the greater the likelihood and opportunity you will have to your desired window of time and likelihood to complete your move by your report date. We are working to refine and improve our business processes to positively enhance your PCS move experience.

Below are the names of your assigned HR Specialist and your point-of-contact at CPC for PCS information and documents required to initiate this part of the PCS process. Please contact your HR specialist should you have any questions.

  • Last Name A-F, your HR Specialist is Jerrard Baker
  • Last Name G-M, your HR Specialist is Charise Stewart
  • Last Name N-Z, your HR Specialist is Tracey Peterson

Additionally, here is the link to the JTR as supplemental information for travel and PCS entitlements that you can save for future reference. Also, below are links to two required PCS forms and the email addresses where the PCS documents must be sent:
NOAA form 56-26 – NOAA Travel Request Form (Send to pcs.cpc@noaa.gov).
OPMD HHG Worksheet – HHG Worksheet (Send to gsa@bergerms.com and pcs.cpc@noaa.gov)

MHS Genesis Roll-Out at MTFs

All Medical Treatment Facilities are eventually moving to a single Electronic Health Record managed by the Defense Health Agency called MHS Genesis. The rollout started at a few small MTFs in the Tricare West region in 2017, and as of now there are more than half of the CONUS MTFs utilizing MHS Genesis. Just about the entirety of the Tricare West system has already migrated. The full migration is expected to be complete as of 2023.

Some of our officers may already have experience with this new system. What is important for our officers to know is that in order to be able to access your own patient information through the MHS Genesis system you will need to have registered for the single login system called DS-Logon. This login system is not only for MHS Genesis but also for all of your active duty information including DEERS, and other military data sources that utilize Personal Identifiable Information (PII).

Here is how to sign-up for a DSL account with a CAC:

Go to https://myaccess.dmdc.osd.mil/identitymanagement/registration.do?execution=e3s1, or Google “Sign up for DS Logon” (please ensure you are going to a secure site. Be aware of phishing attempts.)

  • Select “Need An Account?”
  • Select “I have my Common Access Card (CAC) with access to a card reader” during registration process
  • Follow the steps to get an account within the application

Here is how to sign-up for a DSL account with email registration:

  • Select “I have an active DoD ID card and an email on file in DEERS”
  • Follow the steps to get an account within the application
  • Note that in order to use this method, you must have a registered valid email address on your DEERS record to get an account.

Until the full migration is complete you may still access your information from Tricare Online https://www.tricareonline.com/ wherein you can also directly link directly to MHS Genesis.

For more information about the roll-out and MHS genesis please go to: www.health.mil/MHSGenesis

If you need help with navigating the MHS Genesis Portal? Please call 1-800-538-9552, and they can guide you through with any questions you have.
