Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting System (DEERS) Real-Time Automated Personnel Identification System (RAPIDS) Program Management

The DEERS database and the RAPIDS client application were developed to provide a means of gathering and storing personnel and benefits eligibility information for Uniformed Services sponsors and their eligible family members. The Uniformed Services include the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, Coast Guard, their respective National Guard and Reserve components, the Commissioned Corps of the Public Health Service (PHS), and the Commissioned Officers Corps of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

RAPIDS exists as a network of microcomputer workstations located in Uniformed Services personnel offices and other selected locations worldwide to aid in accessing and updating the DEERS eligibility database and to create DD Forms 1172 and Uniformed Services ID cards. The RAPIDS workstations obtain DEERS data via RAPIDS hosts to facilitate verification of applicants' eligibility for an ID card and for various Uniformed Services benefits, and to pre-fill DD Form 1172 update screens.
