As part of implementing the NOAA Corps Leadership Development Education, CPC arranged for two groups of 30 officers to attend a 5-day Leadership and Management class at the National Weather Service Training Center in Kansas City, MO. The training was geared toward mid-grade officers, particularly ship Executive Officers and Aircraft Commanders, and provided leadership training and tools to assist with the demands of managing and leading people. The course included self assessment exercises and covered communications, decision making, situational leadership, motivation, professional development, and leadership case study. Group interaction and focused night sessions with CPC and NOAA Corps Leadership were additional benefits of the course. CPC will offer the course in FY11 if funds are available.
